Door of South Korean Plane Opens During Flight

A South Korean airline passenger has been arrested by the police after opening an emergency door during a domestic flight just before landing. The incident occurred on an Asiana Airlines aircraft, which safely landed despite the disturbance.

The Incident and Its Consequences

Although no injuries were reported, some passengers experienced panic and respiratory problems. The fire department confirmed that nine individuals were transported to the hospital. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, there were 194 people on board the flight.

The Airbus A321-200 aircraft was flying at an altitude of approximately 200 meters when a passenger opened the emergency door. The passenger was seated near the exit.

Unclear Motives

The reason behind the passenger's action remains unclear. Yonhap reported that the cabin crew was unable to stop the passenger due to the aircraft's imminent landing. Witnesses stated that the man attempted to jump out through the emergency exit. "The crew shouted for help from male passengers, and people around him clung to him and pulled him back inside," a witness told Yonhap.

The flight originated from Jeju Island and landed at Daegu Airport in the early afternoon (local time), located in the southeastern part of South Korea.
